LFR feedback?

First of all I would like to say how much I enjoy the idea of LFR. I have been waiting for something like this for a long time.

After playing around with the LFR tool and raids extensively on PTR, it has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions between excited (ding!) and frustration at the lack of listening ability of people in general. Granted, a lot of people on PTR were on premades without actually knowing how to play their class, they jumped into the LFR because it is the cool thing to do. Ninja-Face pulling, not clicking on the big giant button in the middle of the screen when that is the only mechanic you have to do during the fight, etc.

A few weeks into the PTR, people started knowing the fights and things got a lot smoother (tuning adjustments were made as well) and I started to enjoy the LFR. It was normally a quick queue during prime time, but there were still those players who donned full pvp and queued up as a tank, etc. As horrific as it might seem, you have to take the good with the bad and perservere the full spectrum of pug mentality (from elitist to derpstick).

LFR is exactly what I hoped it would be, a sort of training ground for people wanting to learn the basic fight mechanics and get phat lewts in a non-pressure situation. Even if you have a few baddies, it doesn't matter, you're still going to win if the majority of people do what they are supposed to do.

I have seen on other forums that some people are complaining about how undertuned LFR is and they are upset about it. Those same people are doing hard modes with their guilds so I can't understand how they would complain about LFR being too easy. It isn't geared towards HM players, it is geared towards recruiting new players into raiding and giving people (who would not have a chance otherwise) the opportunity to see the content and experience the hard work that the devs spent in creating for only 5% (?) of the population to experience.

Now, I have only one peeve since the LFR hit live servers. Queueing as a tank it took me about 40 minutes to get into a raid and when I did join they had killed 3/4. So I killed the boss, took my 250 VP and then decided to run some of the new 5-mans (while they are still fresh) with some guildies.

Later as an experiment, I queued up and DPS and it was insta-queue. I cancelled the invite and went back in queue as a tank and I was the only player in my queue for the 15 minutes until I logged for the night. It seems that LFR is the exact opposite of the RDF where it is painful queueing as DPS and waiting 20 minutes. It seems tanks will now feel the same pain that the DPS had felt for such a long time. :(

How has your experience with the LFR tool been so far?

Funny, I hadn't queued as tank yet so didn't notice that.

I queued as death knight melee dps and got a queue within a few minutes.
Got the last 2 bosses down.
Queued again and got the last 3 bosses down.
Queued again and got the missing boss I still needed.

We wiped maybe 2x out of those bosses, so I'm pretty happy.
However, what I read at
http://thegrumpyelf.blogspot.com/2011/12/who-is-lfr-made-for.html
warns that this may be early success because mostly raiders from the last tier are experimenting with it since they are already ilvl 372 (minimum required to queue for LFR)

Once the general population gets a high enough ilvl to queue, maybe the groups will be worse?

Anyway, for the 1 day I tried it, I REALLY liked it.
If this success keeps up, it will be game changing.

I queued up last night as a DPS just so I could get in fast, but I still plan on using any Tier tokens I win for tank pieces.

We wiped once and that was all, we went right through. No one spoke much at all and no instructions were given except the priority order for the slimes.

I did see those reports and from what I have experienced so far I believe it to be true.

I queued up as dps even though my main spec is tank.. i got in within a few seconds and cleared with no problems. Some of the people were in the same guild and had vent which made things easier.

Fights seemed really easy so hopefully it doesn't go downhill.

I must have gotten unlucky. When I queued up, I instantly got added to a rickety group that had just beat Morchok and was about to try Zonozz. Roughly one or two people would leave and get replaced a minute, and the boss attempts were pretty painful.

There's an odd case of natural un-selection at play. Good groups hold all their members, finish the zone, and disappear... bad groups just cycle members but don't go away. I suppose eventually the entire landscape is just full of these zombie groups.

Most of my guildies have had far better experiences though. I'm just not good at being randomly assigned.

Good groups cycle members too because it is likely that many raid members have already killed some bosses for the week and are only in LFR for the specific bosses they missed.
So you see a lot of drops after a boss is defeated because those people don't need bosses that remain.

So far, all is well. I though it would be a great way to see the content (My guild raids mon/tues, so I wont see it with them till then) so I dived straight in, we killed all 4 bosses with no wipes, so maybe it is a little easy but I don't think its built for the challenge, as said the hardcore guys get there fix in Heroic mode, and i'll get my challenge when we raid as a guild on monday, the rest of the time I just wanna hang out, chat and see content.

Got me the RF Tier legs too, so i'm happy!

Thought I would throw this out there, I was all for LFR last week...this week....I am never going back into them again. I honestly thought they would be a good way of learning boss fights and having some fun, but after the 3 I did today; I can never go back.

The last group I was in got told that unless you have done the fights before and know them we shouldn't be queuing up for LFR.

So since I can't handle another raid where 21 people are getting abused for not knowing the fights I have decided this LFR thing is not for me and indeed perhaps WoW is just too full of ************* to continue playing in a raiding capacity.

I love wow, but I think LFR is going to turn people off raiding with the behaviour of some people in this game, and I have been raiding since vanilla, so I can out up with a fair bit but being called f**king idiots for asking how to do boss fight or being told to DIAF for not having done the rash - does not inspire a sense of friendship, guild or teamwork....

Maybe my battle group sucks?

I was pretty thrilled to get an instant queue the few times I've queued up as dps. Also, I've had pretty favorable groups while doing so.

The only negative thing that has happened with the LFR in my experience is that I rolled to disenchant an item, and it turns out that I won the shard (Yay a new crystal for my enchanter). The downside? That crystal counted as loot on Morchok. So I was unable to roll for loot every other time I did him on that character. Kind of a kick in the teeth, but with so many people in the raid it's already a crap shoot to get that piece of loot.

Even if you had passed on every item, that still counts as your chance for loot on that boss for the week.

IE. Kill Morchok on Tuesday in LFR, the window pops up giving you the ability to Need Greed Disenchant or Pass. You may kill Morchok as many times as you want after that, but you will never see the option to roll on loot any time after the first time you killed him (until the reset on the next Tuesday).
